In the same way that we cannot part from nature, we are also wholly emerced in society. Our society is a mesh of laws imposed upon us, unwittingly or willingy, but all of that structure creates threads of connections, along which can flow the content of culture. Culture is not the fabric that binds us together, it is what is transferred between us on those very threads.
The laws may erect galleries, but within those walls we find art. The internet may be reffered to as a web, but on those platforms we call sites, we find prose, photography, movies and music.
What I wrote in the Zen of Darwinism, was that we were obligated to take care of that which is around us because of our link to it is so strong, that the bereaving us of it, would remove a source of beauty from our world. So how do we maintain the beauty of our culture within our society?
The answer, I believe, is to create objects of beauty - pieces of art, to allow our society of individuals to feel proud and elated to be of human kind. This is not something we should leave to artists alone, we as individuals should engage in the spread, appreciation and creation of art. It is not hard. Making art is the act of putting consideration into a creation. Then, whatever you make, will be an expression of yourself, and as such a piece of beauty for this world.
